Top 5 Must Have Travel Essentials for 2019
Hey Jetsetters! It is time! I am headed over to Europe and we are super excited! Every trip is always excited but can be stressful in planning. For those of you who have been following me for awhile, I do an annual Travel Essentials blog post each year feature travel essentials that I have used or discovered in the last year. This year I am featuring 5 items that should be part of your travel essentials and all of which I have packed in my suitcase as well. To see what other items I have featured over the years, click here and scroll down to find 2016-2018. Be sure to follow me on Instagram so you can see the cool spots we will be visiting, eating and what hotels that we will be staying at! I will have hotel reviews/travel guides to follow.
1. GEGO TRACKER
First up is the GEGO Tracker! I am so excited about this product and already have been using it. I have fortunately only gotten my luggage lost 3 times in my life-its still unfortunate that it has happened but over 15 yrs of traveling 3 times is not bad at all. Each lost luggage happened overseas going to Italy. I don’t know why. lol One of the times was my wedding week in Italy. Thank goodness I had my wedding dress in my hand. Since then I have learned to pack essentials and items to get me through the first couple of days of a trip in my carry on just in case.
Lost luggage is the most frustrating thing ever. Your whole vacation stops because you need your clothes and items with you and you are worried. Now the worry of lost luggage or any item that you want to keep track of can be alleviated! The GEGO Tracker is a game changer and I can’t wait to use it on this trip! Use my code FFFIERCE for a discount on your order! Unlike other trackers, you do not need to be within a certain radius in order for the tracking to work. You can track your item from anywhere in the world! You have global coverage and works everywhere. I absolutely love the fact that I get text and in app notification alerts when my item is not near my “safe zone” or when it has moved locations.
- Tracking
- Location History
- SMS Notifications
Just imagine knowing exactly where your luggage is before the Airlines do. The tracker is TSA approved so just slip it in your checked bag. I like to put it in one of the small pockets vs the inner bottom sleeve of your bag in case TSA wants to look at it. I secure it with a Tarriss Travel Gear Lock that that has search alert in case someone sees it and wants to run off with it. This lock was part of 2018 travel essentials that you can read about here .
Also another cool feature as seen in the previous photo is that it will alert you when your battery is low. There are 4 different options when it comes to tracking to help save battery. There are also different usage modes that you can set the tracker for. One mode for everyday use, flights less than 6 hours and flights over 6 hours like for international.
2. TRTL PILLOW
Another travel essential that you should get is the TRTL Pillow (turtle). You may have seen the Instagram ads or seen ads on the internet about this pillow. Well I tried it out and it is worth the hype! International flights can be so uncomfortable is you don’t get first class or pay extra for the length room. So for me, finding ways to sleep on the plane has always been a challenge. No matter what I do, my neck is always sore. The TRTL Pillow is designed for you to sleep comfortable in any travel situation and still be sitting up.
Long layovers at the airport, long train or bus rides and of course long flights are the times that this pillow will come in handy. There are 3 styles of the pillow: the traditional TRTL Pillow for adults, the newest adult version – TRTL Pillow Plus where the height of the pillow can be adjusted to your preference. And now their newest launch as of last week is the TRTL Pillow Junior for kids!
I have tested it out and my neck felt great sleeping on my couch! The fleece is so soft and it gives great support to my neck! It is very light weight and compact and comes in its own carrying pouch that can clip on to your carry on. Stay tuned to my IG Stories where I will let you know how the 8 hour flight to Iceland goes!
3. SUNGLASSES TRAVEL CARRIER
When it comes to traveling, I love to have options. I can’t just travel with one pair of sunglasses. I need options for all my outfits. I typically travel with 6-8 pairs of sunglasses and this trip is no different! I have discovered the most convenient yet chic sunglasses travel carrier that is so compact that you can fit it in your tote or carry out without added weight or space.
This carrier is by Quay Australia and can fit 4 different sunglasses. If you have thin cat eye sunglasses then it can fit 2 in a slot. It fits my Quay sunnies as well as some of my aviator sunnies that are a bit bigger. So it is not just for small sunglasses but for those of bigger sizes and shapes. It comes in 2 colors black and gold. I also lobe the Velcro straps that secures the sunglasses in.
GOOGLE PIXEL BUDS
These Google Pixel buds are the coolest headphones ever! These buds are the perfect travel essential for your next international trip which I will be bringing along since I slacked majorly in learning French. Life was just so busy that I never made time to study as I wished.
But no worries! The Google Pixel Buds translates in real time many languages including Italian which my husband I tested it between our two languages we speak English and Italian. I also was able to test it with my coworker who speaks Hindi. Using a Translator app you can talk or type into it, it transcribes and speaks the phrase in the language you choose. Or you can have the foreign speaker speaks into it and it translates in your language.
We were quite impressed with how grammatically correct the translations were. A lot of times translation apps can be very literal where it not correct but it was perfect in Hindi and Italian. Besides the translation, the quality of the buds were great as well and it recharges in the same case too.
TOILETRY HANGING TRAVEL BAG
Last but not least of a new travel item that I cannot wait to use is a toiletry bag. Now I have to admit. I have never owned one before. My toiletry bag for years was just a plastic bag from Target. But this year I wanted to have something a bit more organized so I can keep my stuff together. This cute floral toiletry bag is just it. There are many different compartments to place all your needed beauty items. Bringing a plastic bag is this abyss of you trying to find out items. But this bag is keeping me organized and having everything in one place too.
The best part is that there is a built in hanger so that way you can hang it on a rod in the bathroom for easy access. Hotel bathrooms always are tiny and especially when you have to share it, you can take up a lot of space. Being able to see everything that you need and it is hanging is so much more convenient and functional. There are other color options you can choose from as well!
So those are my top 5 travel items for 2019! For those of you who watched my sneak peak to this blog post, I mentioned that I would feature an item to solve the issue of full length mirrors in hotels. Not hotels have a full length mirror especially in small family run hotels in other countries. Then when they do they seem to be in the worst part of the room for lighting. So I was going to feature a full size mirror that is foldable for travel. However the brand could not mail it in time so I was not able to test it out. So perhaps next time I will do a cool feature about this travel essential! I hope this post was helpful! Stay tuned for more travel content!

The toiletry hanging travel bag would make for a useful item as you could store/use everything from one place while you travel. Love the concept!
traveling is not so easy because you need to think and be careful about everything and you gave me a great guide of essentials that I need to bring on our next adventure.
You almost said every essential that we need during travel and you mentioned all the stuff that’s on my mind, haha
I love that the tracker is TSA approved so just slip it in your checked bag. I just went through the airport recently and it was a good experience, although the electronics check was really picky.
I am lucky that I have never lost a suitcase before but I can see how handy that tracker would be. Thank you for this list. It definitely opened up my eyes to items I didn’t know I would need.

You have some interesting items on your list this year. I think the ear buds that translate are an amazing technology that I would love to have when I travel internationally. A travel pillow is also something that would come in quite handy on long flights. Great ideas here!
The pillow is a must have especially on long flights. Always makes my day better for sure. Thanks for the recommendations
