The Best Acropolis View Hotel – The Zillers Athens Hotel
Hey Jetsetters! I am excited for another hotel review from our Greece trip that we did this summer! If you are thinking about traveling internationally, definitely have Greece on your bucket list! We have travelled a lot in Italy which you can ready in the section of my blog called Amalfi Coast Travel Experience. However Greece was absolutely breathtaking and beautiful!! For tips on traveling internationally, definitely check out my 3 part International Travel Series which you can find here under travel tips! So this beautiful hotel I will be discussing is The Zillers Athens hotel in the heart of Athens! Athens was our first stop in Greece and we spent 3 wonderful nights here! For our Greece trip, we did hop around to different islands which you can read about tips on Greek Island Hopping in this post! We loved every minute of The Zillers Athens Hotel and upon arrival, I already told myself that this will be our “go-to” hotel for Athens. I love small boutique hotels! I find that the customer service is always extra great and it feels more intimate. Check out my mini video of our stay below!

The Zillers Athens Hotel – First Impressions
The Zillers Athens Hotel made a great first impression the second we walked in! The décor is exquisite! Very contemporary, yet royal type feel with the beautiful windy staircase behind the reception. But then there was ROBERTA!! I absolutely fell in love with their sweetest, beautiful receptionist name Roberta who has the cutest greek accent!! She was sooo nice and helpful and was always full of joy!
She always said hello and help me with getting around the city! Every day I made it a point to find her and say hello and even panicked when the last day of our stay I did not see here. She came in later that evening and we said our final goodbye. The Zillers Athens Hotel should know that they have a true gem with Roberta!
The Zillers Athens Hotel – Location
The location is just perfect next to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens! It is literally within walking distance of all the touristic parts of Athens such as shopping in Plaka, Monastriaki and Ermou Street which is directly behind the hotel. You are also within walking distance from many nice restaurants, Hadrian Library and the Monastiraki Metro Station which takes you to the Acropolis. You really don’t need a car. The hotel arranged for a car service to pick us up from the airport which was 43 euros each trip. It took about 45 minutes to get to the hotel from the Airport factoring in traffic.
Our day of arrival, prime minister Constantine Mitsotakis’ funeral was going on next to the hotel and so a lot of media and important people in Greece was in the square below us the day we arrived. It was quite interesting & cool to see how they did the funerals in Greece. Other than that plaza was always very nice and quiet with a beautiful view of the Acropolis.
The Zillers Athens Hotel – Rooms
The rooms are very nice and spacious!! We absolutely loved our room! I actually did not want to leave my room to explore because I loved it so much! We had room #103 with acropolis view! The balcony was so nice and to enjoy the view of Acropolis even at night where it is always lit. The balcony is not a full balcony where you would sit and have a table, but opens enough to lean and enjoy a drink and people watch.
The bed was large and comfortable and they provided slippers and nice soft robes as well. The bathroom was very clean, big and well lit! The bath products smelled soooo good!! Very good quality bath products with olive oil. The shower was very clean too and the hot water worked just fine.
They had a mini bar that you could take advantage of if you need something to drink from beer to water to juices. They had a vanity mirror so I can do my makeup and a hair dryer as well. The room also included a safe and a chair to sit and lounge.
At night, the area near the hotel is very quiet. It is close enough to walk to restaurants (5 min walk) but still far enough to not be disturbed from clubs, hotels and bars that seem to never sleep. On our way back to the airport, the bars in the area were full of people at 5am with music playing as if it was 9pm. We were so glad the hotel was not near this area because it was like a block party.
The Zillers Athens Hotel – Rooftop Garden/Food
The Zillers Roof Garden Bar was my most favorite spot of the hotel! I love anything roof top and they have one of the most beautiful garden roof tops in Athens with a perfect view of the acropolis. Upon our arrival, they offer us a welcome cocktail! It was non alcoholic but was sooo good and refreshing! I had it about twice a day during our stay. I cannot remember what was in it but it surely was good!
They are known for their handcrafted specialty cocktails! This roof garden bar is open to the public as well but never gets overly crowded where it feels cluby nor I never saw a rowdy group of people but a mixed crowd as far as age. It is very classy with nice music!
The rooftop is not open to the public for breakfast where we experienced our first MAGNIFICENT Greek breakfast! We did not realized how much food it came! Breakfast is completely personalized and made to order. In your room, they have a menu listing all the options of food you can eat. They had everything from plain Greek yogurt, fruit Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, breads, hams, meats, eggs, omelets, you name it. One thing is for sure, you never had Greek yogurt until you have it in Greece! Very good! You should be careful on what you select because the portions are full size portions. Big! We learned it on our first morning at breakfast. Haha
You choose the time when you want to come up and have breakfast and slowly but surely they begin to bring out all the food! We nearly forgot what we all ordered and by the time they were done, we had a table full of food. So we were more selective the second time around! The food was really, really good! We did not have lunch or dinner there, but I am sure it is just as good too!
Our overall experience at The Zillers Athens Hotel was excellent with not one complaint! We definitely want to return to the hotel when we visit to Athens again! Everyone was so nice including the people that worked at the bar. You can book with them directly here or even on booking.com which is where I originally discussed this gem! There is still lots we want to see in Athens so who knows…we may be back next summer! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay! Until next time! Kisses!
