The Most Breathtaking Views at Petani Bay Hotel Kefalonia, Greece
Kalimera Jetsetters! My favorite hotel review has FINALLY ARRIVED!!! When I say this was our favorite hotel in Greece, I really mean it! While editing the photos and the videos, my husband and I just sighed wishing we were right back there! This wonderful hotel I am speaking about is Petani Bay Hotel in Kefalonia, Greece! This is a beautiful adult only hotel with a resort type feel! As I read various travel forums, I feel a lot people are sleeping on Kefalonia. When people post about needing help with their Greece itinerary, so many people discourage or put off Kefalonia saying there is not much to do or see. It’s so NOT true! I will have my travel guide about Kefalonia in separate post, but this post is all dedicated to reviewing Petani Bay Hotel! Check out my video of the hotel below! PETANI BAY HOTEL: LOCATION
When some people view of a hotel having a perfect location, they think it should near a bunch of restaurants and shopping area. In some places, that may be true, but for Kefalonia, I would not say that is the case. Kefalonia is all about the scenery and beaches! It has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, which are now my FAVORITE beaches!
Petani Bay Hotel’s location is perfect! When you look at a map, you will notice that it is in a rural secluded area of Kefalonia which is why I liked it. Normally I don’t like secluded hotels and this was our first secluded hotel that we ever stayed at and it was appropriate for this island.
It was about an hour drive from the airport, but only a 5 minute drive to Petani Bay beach – my husband’s favorite beach in Kefalonia! I loved this beach too and it is the beach you see in the opening of my video! I felt that Petani Bay Hotel is in the perfect location because it was equal distance to all the beaches and sites that we wanted to see which I will discuss further on in this post.
This hotel also sits on top of a hill and overlooks Petani Bay! We could see the bay perfectly from our balcony! It is the perfect hotel if you want to relax and enjoy the sights and smells.

PETANI BAY HOTEL: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Upon arrival, we were greeted by sweet Voula the owner of the hotel! She is so nice was like a friend! She gave us suggestions of where to go and gave a map that came in handy. She took care of our luggage and put it in our room as well as accommodated our early arrival to Kefalonia with breakfast!
The sounds of this hotel I absolutely loved! During the day time, you hear the birds and bells of the goats in the distance. At night they played soft, relaxing lounge music as guests enjoyed cocktails barside or poolside as we watched the sunset.
Sunsets are NOT to be missed! Trust me! Just breathtaking! We made sure that we never missed a sunset. The smells outside areas of the hotel was sooo nice! I am not sure what type of flowers were on the property, but they smelled like perfume! I really miss the smell – I know that may sound strange but it really did smell good all the time.
The scent really contributed to the serene atmosphere! The best way to describe the feel of this Petani Bay is resort style hotel meets bed & breakfast! So you have the looks of a resort, but the warm friendly service of a bed and breakfast!

PETANI BAY HOTEL: BREAKFAST
As I mentioned, Petani Bay Hotel was so nice to accommodate our early arrival and we were starving! Breakfast was good! We ate outside where we had a great view of Petani Bay beach. We had made to order omelets that they brought to our table and then an assortment of fresh fruits, hams, breads, yogurt, pastries and teas that you got buffet style! Their homemade juices were so good too as well as their teas!
At the hotel, you have to option to eat inside or outside, but outside is so much better especially when the weather is nice. They have shaded seating so that way you are not in the direct heat. They also served dinner at the hotel too which we did not get a chance to try but it a nice option since there are no restaurants or stores nearby. You can see all the hotel’s amenities here.
PETANI BAY HOTEL: THE ROOMS
Our room was perfect! We got a junior suite room that faced out to the bay & pool with a balcony! The room was quite large than what I expected! There was a living room area with a sofa, coffee table and a vanity. There was also a dining room area with a sink, refrigerator and table to eat on. The table had complimentary fruit and bottle of wine to enjoy! These areas as you can see from the photos was not enclosed but open spaced and spaced out enough where you did not feel crammed.
The bed was nice and soft and comfortable and the room had both a ceiling fan and AC. The bathroom was very nice and clean and I LOVED the bath products! In Greece, they use the best smelling products on their skin as I discussed in this post here! Petani Bay had one of my favorite shower gels and lotions! I took home the extra shower gel and lotion we had because I loved them smell so much! It was nice scent of fresh flowers. The shower worked great and the lighting was perfect for apply makeup. Sometimes not all hotel lighting is good for makeup but this one I did not have any problems. On the balcony there were two chairs and table to enjoy our wine and the amazing views!
PETANI BAY HOTEL: POOL/LOUNGE AREAS
The infinity pool is of course the highlighting feature of the hotel! It was the very reason that attracted me to this hotel because I never stayed at a hotel with an infinity pool before! In case you don’t know what an infinity pool is, its pool that gives the appearance that there is no edge and kind of looks like it leads right into the sky. The photos that you take during the day and especially at sunset is BEAUTIFUL!
Each day we made it a point to be back at the hotel in time to enjoy the sunset. I even took a dip in the pool too! In June the pool temperature was perfect! They have pool chairs that you can put in the shallow areas of the pool and relax. They has have cabanas which were our favorite! There was one cabana in particular that we liked due to the direct view of the sunset. Throughout the hotel and area the pool, there are so many wonderful spots to lounge freely and have your privacy. To shop my vacation wear, go to my Vacation Shop here!
PETANI BAY HOTEL: THE BEACHES
As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, this hotel is perfect to get to the famous beaches of Kefalonia. One beach that is a 5 minute drive, which we did see a couple of people walking to it, is Petani Bay beach! This beach was so nice! The water was like a pool as you saw in the opening footage of my video! It is a sand beach mixed with tiny pebbles. There was a couple beach bars that were opened during our visit in early June too.
The water was initially cold, but then you quickly adjusted to the temperature and it was not cold anymore. We both same in it and the water was very calm too. The other beach that we visited that was about 45 min away was Myrtos beach! GORGEOUS! We also visited Antisamos beach – my FAVORITE beach, Assos, Fiskardo and Melissani Cave/Lake all in one day actually! Stayed tuned to my travel guide review of Kefalonia where I will talking about these beaches in more detail.
