Haute Food – Food in Fashion 2017

Hey Dallasites! I wanted to let you know that I added a new sub category under my “Lifestyle” menu for “Dallas Seats & Eats”. These will be posts featuring events that I attend locally here in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex as well as some of my favorite restaurant we eat at or that we discover! So if you live here in Dallas area or just curious of what we have going on here, definitely check back.

So last week I attended Food in Fashion event present by Neiman Marcus which was held at 3015 at Trinity Groves space! Think Couture meets Food! This was an amazing event hosted by Randall White of Elettore where 10 emerging fashion designers partnered up with 10 restaurants to create fashion designs using elements of the restaurant – whether it was edible or not. There were not any Lady Gaga meat dresses but some of the pieces were really amazing!  Proceeds from this reception benefit the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation and its Texas ProStart culinary career program (where we are cultivating the next generation of restaurateurs) which is offered in Dallas ISD high schools.

It began with a cocktail hour where they offer appetizers, drinks provided by different restaurants in the Dallas area! This was nice to meet so many emerging designers and Dallas socialites. The venue was gorgeous with the lighting and live DJ music. It was one of the best events that I attended in Dallas- very organized and chic! There was also a silent auction during the event as well!

So on the invite they stated that the attire was cocktail attire but we could garnish our look with something from the kitchen! So I thought that would be fun. So I literally whipped me up something really quickly using Dollar Tree items and a hot glue gun. I love throwing get-to-gethers and parties so I have a lot of supplies already at home. I made hot glued some silver spoons to the back of my earrings and made a statement belt using a serving tray and silverware. Who knew this outfit was such a hit! I received so many compliments and so many photos taken – it was great!

Now for the show! It was emceed by WFAA anchor Ron Corning – he kept it lively with the commentary. There were many good creative work that were featured. By far my favorite one was by Fashion Marilu who partnered with Jack in the Box (opening photo).  From the make up by The Makeup Zone to the actual design itself – it was soo creative! The frills in the front of the dress were made by the hamburger wrapping paper from Jack in the box styled with Jack in the Box heads, earrings and hat! I loved the pop of color on the model’s eyes and bedazzled red lips too!

My next favorite was Parker Collections! Her design was using coffee filters and coffee bean sacks! During the show, the model WERKED  that runway and graced the audience with puffs of glitter! It was definitely a nice touch showing that Designer Parker came to entertain!

My other favorite design was by Truanjl who created a wedding dress / ball gown out of coffee filters! It was so elegant and beautiful! So much time, details and efforts went into making this piece! I really had an appreciation for these designers with all their hard work and  creativity.

Below are a few of the other designers and their featured work!
