THE LOCATION

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. Getting to Copenhagen you will fly into their Kastrup Airport, which is 15 minutes by car. To save money and not take a taxi, we took the train from the airport to the central train station which was a 15 minute ride as well. The hotel was about a 5 minute walk from central train station.

With heavy luggage, it will take about 10 minutes. Once we got our barrings during our stay, we realized how close we were actually from different areas of Copenhagen that we visited. You can read about how great their location is here on TripAdvisor too! As far as price, I think it is great given the location and the type of hotel it is. Yes you can find hostels for under $100 a night but I personally am not a fan of sharing rooms and bathroom and usually the location is not that great. You end of paying about the same for the cost to travel into the city too.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

When we first walked in the Absalon Hotel, I immediately loved the vibe! From the area where the hotel was located to the reception area it, it had that friendly European chic vibe! We were greeted with smile and they took the time help me get acquainted with the surroundings and where we could go to eat since places closes much earlier in Denmark like at 9pm and we had arrived later that evening around 6pm ish.

I loved the decor which was an artsy contemporary feel. I loved the elevators on our floor because the elevator doors looked like a bookshelf. There was also this cool telephone booth in the main lobby as well. It gave the hotel a lot of character. There is a calm relaxing feeling about this hotel though in a big city.

THE ROOMS

Our room at the Absalon Hotel was amazing! It felt like royalty with the purple and burgundy red colors throughout from the pillows to the curtains to the chairs. The room was quite spacious for a European hotel which normally is on the smaller end. You definitely can open your luggage and still have enough room to walk around without feeling cramped. I love the plush arm chairs in the room.

One of my favorite features the multiple big windows that open to the inner courtyard. I love windows that actually open out and not just a slide up. It is so nice and peaceful in the courtyard. The bathroom is a also great size. Spacious as well with great lighting to do my hair and makeup! The shower is great and has great pressure and hot water. One thing I learned is Denmark’s water is safe to drink from the tap. They had a sign in the bathroom on their two glasses.

Another awesome unique feature of Absalon Hotel is that each room comes with a travel guide in the form of a cell phone! Yes, every room has its own “travel buddy” or cellphone for the guest to take out into the city and make calls with WiFi. It already has information on what to do, where to go, where to eat and TripAdvisor. Most importantly information on the hotel in case you get lost or need to give the taxi directions. It is very hard to pronounce the name of the streets.

I feel like that is something super nice and special for guests especially those who don’t have WiFi or international data on their phone. For no extra charge, you can use the cellphone to enhance your Copenhagen experience. Absalon Hotel definitely goes the extra mile in thinking what there international guests may need when visiting their beautiful city!

BREAKFAST & THE GARDEN

Who doesn’t love free breakfast!? Absalon Hotel’s breakfast buffet was quite great! I love a good buffet especially when there is hot breakfast. There were an assortment of fruits, meats and cheeses to choose from as well as different juices.

Yes I know that is typically buffet but it actually tasted good and fresh and not anything cheap like. We went back for 2nds and maybe 3rds but who’s counting, right?! There was also pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereals and breads to choose from as well.

You have the option to eat in their contemporary style breakfast dining area and bar area which has the beautiful tall windows. Or our preferred area was the outdoor garden courtyard. This is the same courtyard that our room faces into.

It was nice, quiet and sunny which made for a great relaxing breakfast. I enjoyed a couple of cups of there amazing assortment of herbal and fruit teas! They had some of the best teas I ever tasted.

THE ABSALON BAR

The Absalon Bar is a hip bar that is open to the public and serves some great drinks. It is a popular bar and lounge in Copenhagen. At night, the colorful lighting can be seen from the street. They play some great bar music to go with ambiance and never overcrowded or loud so great place just to chill and enjoy a nice drink.

It stays open later than most places in Copenhagen especially in this area until about 11pm. It is also open during the day too for coffee or drinks. To have a chic bar on location is a great feature so you don’t have to venture out too far since alot of places do not stay open late like in other cities.
