Me, Myself & Style
Hello, World! My name is Cindy! I am a tall, Italian speaking chic that was born and raised in Irving, Texas (Dallas )! Welcome to my style blog! So what’s the story behind the name “Foreign Fresh & Fierce”?? Well it’s not a self description of myself, but the simple fact that I love everything foreign, fresh and fierce! From music to home décor to fashion, I am attracted to things that are different – FOREIGN in style and new! I love traveling to other countries and learning about their culture, trying out new foods, and trying out their fashion styles. I enjoy shopping for clothes overseas because I know that I can get some pieces that I or anyone can find here in the United States. FRESH– I consider this to describe things that are simple yet fashionably. Not all the time when trying to create a unique style, it has to be complicated or funky. Sometimes less is more and simplicity of an item can be a fashion statement all in its self. And when comes to fashion, I love to look FIERCE! I like to try to stand out and play with different colors!
So what is my style? My style is looking fierce on a budget. It’s all about looking #chiqueforcheap! Who says you have to have a lot of money in order to be fashionable?! I never bought designer brand items such as Prada, Chanel, etc. It is not that I have anything against designer brands. It is just because growing up we did not have the money for designer labels. I have always been a fashionista on a budget. Most of my clothing pieces are under $50. Ever since I could remember, I would look at fashion magazines for the outfits and find other stores to replicate the style/look at lower prices. Zara, H&M, Forever 21, Alloy, Express, Agaci are a few of the stores that I like to shop at. I shop sales, online and use coupons.
Being tall sometimes present wardrobe challenges. Pants not long enough or they are long enough but too big due to my size. Let’s not forget that being tall means having a bigger shoe size! In shoes I am a size 11 but at times depending on the shoe I can wear a size 10. I am 5’11 and I wear my height with pride! Everyone that knows me, knows that despite my height, I am always rockin high heels! But to let you in on little secret… I am actually supposed to be a few inches taller – without heels! I have a pretty bad scoliosis – a Double S curve. So I have a curve at the upper and lower parts of my back. It resembles a backwards S. So if my spine was completely straight, I may be about 6’2 or 6’3″!!
I never allowed scoliosis stop me from doing anything. I was still able to do sports and I was dancer and choreographer for a period of time too. I use to be really self-conscious about my scoliosis – one shoulder higher than the other, having a shorter torso and afraid others would notice the curves in my back when wearing a certain tops or swimsuits. However, I eventually learned to accept it. I felt that walking with confidence, being active and being aware of my posture helped me out a lot. Noone ever notices it. My blog is to give you fashion inspirations on how to always achieve a fashionably FIERCE style no matter what your situation is and most importantly without breaking the bank!
Fun facts about me: I previous had a full time job as a relocation consultant pre-covid! I relocated people all over the world. Also I love teaching people about the bible. My favorite color is purple as you can tell from my site! I love fashion, makeup and traveling – especially to Italy. I am probably the “poster child” for Rosetta Stone. I always wanted to speak Italian since I was in middle school. One day I heard the radio commercial for Rosetta Stone. In 2008, I bought it and was addicted to it – spending several hours a night every night. I became conversational in Italian in a little over 6 months and I only completed two and half levels! I visited Italy for the first time in 2009.
Then in 2010, I lived in Italy in the region of Abruzzo for a few months and made several trips to Italy since then. Being immersed in the culture while living in Italy really helped me become more fluent too. I can read, write and speak in Italian. I am a self-proclaimed “abruzzese” – someone who is from Abruzzo, Italy! I love this part of Italy! It has a little bit of everything – mountains, beach, city and countryside!
As a blogger, I love working with brands! If you are a brand and would like to collaborate, I would love to hear from you so we can discuss how I can assist you with your brand goals. You can contact me at info@foreignfreshfierce.com!
